ENTERTAINMENTS.
''THE FASHION PLATES." CHANGE OF PROGRAMME. The new programme presented by "The Fashion Plates" attracted an audience of very large dimensions to the Empire Theatre last evening. This excellent company provides a flue entertainment along popular revue lines, and moves with such speed that the. stage is never empty and there are no dull moments. The new numbers submitted included several sparkling novelties, amongst them being "By Jingo," "Where the Flies Go," "A Wedding Scena," "Rhymes," while "The Court Scene" and "Shanghai" were also much appreciated. Throughout the entire programme the ensemble work was excellent and the artists added further 'tyo their prestige by the admirable manner in which the various numbers were presented. This company excels .in concerted items, and Ithere is a commendable unity of action 'apparent in all wltifli they essay. Mr. Renn Millar, the popular basso, san? "Gibraltar" and "The Blue Lagoon," and Mr. Syd. Kingsley, the tenor, sang "Aloha," which gained in effect by a harmonised chorus tunefully sung. Misf Miriam Kutner was in .splendid forrv. and was heard to much advantage in "Love's Own Kiss," while Miss Wyn Faulkner made quite a decided success in "Dardanella." Mr. George Titchener again proved very popular in his comedy creations, and was a tower of strength in the various sketches included in the bill. Mr. W. B, Keany sang two humorous songs and sang them well, in addition to which lie appeared to advantage with Mr. Titchener in "Rhymes" and other numbers. Miss Ignore Grahana was at the top of her form in "Johnny Callaghan," and also stood out prominently as the bride in "The Wedding Scena." The dressing and frocking •of "The Fashion Plates" was a subject of general admiration, «nd the opinion already expressed that this is. the smartest company seen in New Plymouth for several years, received further substantiation as the result of the new bill submitted last evening. This fine eonipany will appear for only two more nights. The season ends «n Saturday. Miss Rosa Walton, who submitted a further series of songs at the piano, again proved a popular favorite, Miss Walton also officiated efficiently as accompanist.
