ESCAPES BY AEROPLANE, By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Dec. 30, 11.3 a p.m. Rome, Dec. 30. It is reported d'Annunzio escaped from Fiume by aeroplane.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn - - SURRENDER OF THE TOWN. Rome, Dec. 20. The cessation of fighting at Fiume was preceded by the Mayor requesting an armistice, D'Annunzio apparently concurring. The truce conditions include the Regency's promise to evacuate Veglia and return the Government vessels. The newspaper Corriere della Sera states that D'Annunzio handed over the authority to the Communal Council at Fiume.
