Sydney, Dec. 23. Giving evidence before the Agricultural Committee Father Pigott, astronomical observer at Eiverview College, explained that the time was coming when rain would forecast a fortnight ahead in consequence of the recent discovery that the sun's radiation is not constant and that there is a correspondence between its variations and the weather. He suggested that Australians should participate in the obj serrations being taken in North and I South America and Egypt, completing j the parallellogTam. It is proposed to | utilise Father Pigott's observatory and obtain the services of an expert from Washington. j WANTED TO KILL POLICE. Sydney, Dec. 23. At the Labartc inquest the police sei't geant, called as a witness, gave evidence that when he spoke to Labarte over the phone the latter said: "I want all the police sent out. I want to kill them all." He was stupidly drunk. A man employed by Labarte gajre evidence that after Mrs: Labarte had been shot he saddled a horse intending to fetch the police. Aa he mounted Labarte shot the horse dead and fired several shots at him as he ran to cover. Further evidence showed that Labarte had been drinking heavily. Sixteen bullet wound* were found in his wife's body. Labarte was committed for trial on a charge of murder.
