CHRISTMAS TRADE.

GOOD BUSINESS REPORTED. A sign of the approach of Christmas has been the displays made by various business houses in Taranaki, who cater for the season trade in some branch or other, and some effective window designs have been carried out.

A business man, approached by a Daily News reporter on the subject of the volume of trade, said that h/isinoas has been very encouraging, and he did not think the retailers had anything to complain of. Other enquiries' indicate that business generally has been good, comparing more than favorably with last year, and apparently there is ample money in circulation. A retail grocer expressed the opinion that many had previously been holding back from making purchases, in the hope that prices would drop, but a rush of orders was now being experienced, with a big enquiry for the customary Christmas lines.
