On the army supplementary estimates Mr. Churchill stated that General Ironside's force at Kasvin, which was practically the i-ole protection of Northwest Persia and Tohcrar- was withdrawing in the spring, meanwhile Britain was trying to rouse the Persian Government to a sense of its responsibility for self-protection. It was melancholy to contemplate the possibility of an ancient capital and monarchy ueing engulfed in barbarism, but there must be a limit to Britain's responsibilities.
