Kltham, Dee. 15.

The fortnightly sitting of the Kltham Magistrate's Court wits held to-day before Mr, T. A. B. Bailey, S.M.

John Ottoway (Mr. A. Stewart) was charged with iishing for trout in the Waingongoro River without a license and during the closed season. A fine of 10s and costs 17s (id was imposed. On a similar charge Kenneth Guden was fined 10a and costs 17s (id. Denis Brien was sentenced to one month's imprisonment on a charge of having disobeyed an order requiring him to contribute towards the support of his wife and six children. The arrears amounted to £l2.

Judgment was given for the plaintiff by default in each of the following civil cases: G. W. E. Brogden (Mr. Gibson) v. F. W. Garrett, £55 15s (costs, £5 69 (!d); Albert Beesling v. Walter James Lichtwark, 14s (costs 8s). On a judgment summons M. J. Anderson (Mr. Chrysta)) proceeded against B. Hart for failing to pay £8 10s (id. After debtor had explained Mb financial position, the Magistrate said he would not make any order. Thomas, Olliver and Thomas (Mr. Chrystal) proceeded against Lewis Benjamin Parsons on a judgment summons for £lB 5s 3d. Debtor did not appear, and an order was made requiring the amount to be paid forthwith, in default eighteen days' imprisonment. The same creditors also proceeded against George Daines for £33 15s 7d for groceries, and debtor explained that he had to maintain six children in an industrial school; also a wife and one child living with him, his wages being 12s 6d a day. The, case was adjourned until January 2(1, 1921, in order to enable enquiries to be made regarding debtor's earnings. The hearing of the claim by William George Lister (Mr. Beechey) against Robert Schneller (Mr. L. M. Moss) for £l4O in respect of damage to a crop of turnips, etc., on plaintiff's farm at Lowgarth, was continued. After further evidence had been given for the defendant, the Magistrate intimated that lie would give his decision in writing
