The complmentary social tendered by the Stratford Agricultural amd Pastoral Association to the voluntary workers at the recent Show, which was held in the luncheon room on the Showgrounds, was a thorough success, fully 200 being present. The floor was in excellent order, and all the arrangements were satisfactorily carried out. The proceedings opened with selections by Rogers' Orchestra, which also played several extras during the evening. A number of musical items were interspersed with | the dances, songs being contributed by Mrs;. Holland, Miss Phillips and Mr. G. T. Walters, and a recitation by Miss Wilson. Mrs. Bianehi'3 orchestra, with Mr. Parker (cornet) and Mr. Vinsen (drums) provided excellent music for the dances, and a thoroughly enjoyable time was spent by everyone present. Messrs. P. Aitken and D. M. Clarke officiated as M.C.'s, and Mrs. Sangster ably supervised the supper arrangements. Dancing wa3 continued until about 1.30 a.m.
ELTHAM S.A. BOYS' CONCERT. A splendid programme was submitted by the boys of the Eltham Salvation Army Home, at the Town Hall last night, but unfortunately the attendance was not commensurate with the high quality of the items provided. The boys, however, went through the whole programme, demonstrating in a remarkable manner the splendid training they receive at the home, and they were heartily applauded for their efforts.
U.A.O.D. At the Foresters' Hall on Tuesday evening there were about 100 members of the above Lodge present, visitors attending from Manaia, Hawera, Eltham, West Coast, Southland and Patea. The balance sheet was read, and showed the Lodge to be in a very sound position, although during the last six months a good deal of sickness had been experienced. After the ordinary business had been disposed of the district president, Bro. J. W. Jones, installed the following officers: A.D., Bro. W. Abraham; V.A., Bro, E. Mumby; secretary, Bro. T. Richardson; treasurer, Bro. H. Burmester (reelected); 1.G., Bro. Bert Rowe; 0.G., Bro. J. H. Sharroek; A.D.8.. Bros. J. Ward and H. Warcup; V.A.8., Bros. T. W. Smith and 0. Boldt.
After the installation the brethren adjourned for refreshments, when the following toast list was dealt with: ''The King and The Druids' 1 , proposed by Bro. W. Abraham; "Grand Lodge of Xcw Zealand", proposed by Bro. W. Abraham and responded to by District President Bro. ,T. W. Jones; "The Visitors", proposed by Bro. T. Smith and responded to by various visitors; "The Xewly Installed Officers", proposed by Bro. C. Liddington and responded to by several of the new officers; "The Ladies", proposed by Bro. J. Ward and responded to by Bro. Warcup and Boldt; "The Press", proposed by Bro. T. Richardson and responded to by Bro. Boldt; "Our Musicians", proposed by Bro. Jones and responded to by Bros. C. Fox and S. Dick. .Sonjrs were given by Bros. W. Abraham, J. Ward, C. Fox and T, Richardson; recitations by Bros. E. Mumby, 0. Boldt and C. Liddington; instrumental items by Bros. C. ¥ox and S. Dick. Bro. | Fox presided at the piano.
