THE ARBITRATION COURT.
GARDENERS' AWARD. By T»l«graph.—Press Association. Wellington, Dec. 7. The Wellington Gardeners' Employees' Union applied to the Arbitration Court for an award to-day. The dispute nlainly concerned the City Council labor on reserves. Mr. Grentell, on behalf of ,Mr. Waugh, nurseryman, applied for his name to be struck off from the parties cited. He pointed out that there were a number of Chinese nurserymen who had not been cited, leaving Mr. Waugh practically the only nurseryman cited with the City and Petone Councils. His Honor asked why other nurserymen had not "been cited and advised that the claims against the City and Petone Councils bo proceeded with and fresh claims made against nurserymen. The evidence showed that an agreement had been come to before the Conciliation Commissioner except regarding the custodians of the reserves, who the councils maintained could not be classed as gardeners. Ultimately an agreement was arrived at and made into an award to cover the City and Petone Councils, his Honor saying that further terms could perhaps be come to. regarding custodians.
