ECHO OF A STRIKE.
LABOR'S PERTINENT QUESTION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The incident concerning the steamer Calm which caused the hold-up at the Wellington wharf, was mentioned at the monthly stop work meeting of the Seamens' Union. According to an official report of the proceedings, the Minister of Labor, in a letter replying to the representations made, admitted that the Wellington employer:; of waterfront labor had committed a technical breach of the var regulations. However, the regulations were meant to apply only to the war period, and, im would be„ taken against the employers. ■ The meeting passed a motion embodying this reply, and requesting the Minister to state whether he would adopt the same course in regard to any breach of the regulations which might be committed by workers in the future.
