AUCKLAND SHOW. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Auckland show concluded on Saturday in line weather. There was a record attendance. Championships are: Hunter, C. A, Pague's Patch; hack, Miss McCarthy's Gaiety; lady's hunter, Miss Grant's Kia Ora. SEAMAN ARRESTED. Auckland, Last Night. Five seaman on the steamer Opawa were arrested on arrival on a charge of embezzlement of cargo valued at £SO during the voyage. HQSPITAL _COMMI!!JSTON: Wellington, Dec. 4. The Minister of Health states that he proposes to ask Cabinet early in the new year to set up a commission of say five, to advise the Government upon hospital matters, including a schedule of subsidies, subsidy on voluntary contributions, election of members of boards, etc. The commission will probably include two members of Parliament, one outside medical man, and two gentlemen with business and local body experience. ■MAIN ROADS POLICYAuckland, Dec. 3. Replying to a deputation, the Hon. J. G. Coates said the Bill dealing with main roads could not he tackled till after the holidays. What was proposed was to appoint a control board elected largely by local bodies of different reading districts, but that remained to be finally decided. A special engineer would be appointed by the department to advise the control boards. The whole scheme would be governed by. the financial ability to operate it. He hoped to build up to begin with a fund of half a million, which diA riot Beem much for the whole of New Zeahyid, but it would be a start. The scheme was to have a main road right through the Dominion with branches east and west. At first metal would have to be used, but they could gradually work up to concrete.
