Widespread useful rain continues to the general benefit, particularly in the coastal and other areas, which have been suffering from water shortage as the result of the hot spell. The rain will interfere somewhat with the harvesting of the early wheat, hut will improve the late crops. COMMODITIES COMMISSION. Sydney, Dee. 3. The Commodities Commission increased lime 10s a ton. .It declined to reduce the price of butter, on the grounds that dairymen were insufficiently recompensed for their labor, also because the dairying industry was going backward. MELBOURNE TO PERTH FLIGHT. Perth, Dec. 4. The aviator Degaris, with two mechanics, han completed the first east to west journey across Australia. He left Melbourne on Tuesday morning and arrived at Perth at mid-day on Thursday, having covered a distance of 2W9 miles in 30 hours 27 minutes.
