ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
DROWNED IX A RIVER. By Wejrraph--rress Assoclatlo» Taumarunui, Dec. 2. Tom Pearce, aged 17, of Karori, Wellington, was drowned this morning while crossing the Wanganui river at Piraka. His horse stumbled on a stone and Pearce was thrown into the stream. His twin brother tried in vain to sava him, but unfortunately tho youth was washed down stream. The* body has not been recovered. KILLED IN TIMBER MILL. Ohakune, Last Night. At Goldfinch's No. 1 mill this morning, John McCrne was killed by being jambed between two logs, his skull being fractured. A tragic feature of the accident is that McCrae's wife died two months ago, and he leaves a family of seven children, -whose ages rang* up to seventeen yean.
