CONCILIATION COUNCIL.

GENERAL LABORERS' AWARD. AN AGREEMENT REACHED. The Conciliation Council, at present sitting in New Plymouth on the question of the general laborers' award, continued the conference yesterday, a full agreement eventually being arrived at between the assessors for the parties. The new scale of waaes ranges from Is 7d per hour, plus 3d bonus, up to Is lOd per hour (plus 3d bonus), this lattar being the payment for ttie highest class, such as tunnel workers. Provision is also made for the! addition of any further bonus awarded by the Arbitration Court. Hours of work will be 44 per week for building trades laborers, and 47 for general laborers, the daily starting time being S a.m. To-day the matter of the agreement between the Borough Council and the Union will be discussed by the parties concerned before the commissioner, and on Monday the claims of the Hotel and Restaurant Workers' Union come up for consideration.
