STRATFORD.

Taranaki daily news, STRATFORD AGENCY. Adrertisementa aod items of news for publication should bs left at the office ot tin local renrejentatlTe, W. J. Wilson, next Union Btok. November 26. The dance held by the local Druids in the Town Hall last night was a conspicuous success, over 150 couples being present. The floor was in splendid order for dancing and a niost enjoyable evening was spent by all present. The music was supplied by Mrs. Bianchi's orchestra, extras being played by Miss Taylor and others. During the evening a waltzing competition w,as held, sixteen couples taking part, Mr. W. Berg and Miss Hall being declared the winners. Messrs W. Wilson R. Leach. A. Nelson, P. Aitken, and W. Ferguson acted as M.C.'s. Dancing was continued until 2 a.m. Varying estimates ranging from 6000 to 10,000 people have been made of the attendance at the Show yesterday, and although it is impossible, owing to the large number of members tickets and complimentary passes issued, to arrive at an exact estimate, there seems little doubt that the number wae in the vicinity of 10,000 people. The . visit of the Governor-General no doubt accounted for a large number coming from North Taranaki who would not otherwise have visited the Show, while the visitors from other parts of Taranaki were particularly numerous. The gate takings for the two days amounted to over £340. which is easily a rtecord for the Show. Stratford presented an unusually busy appearance last night, and the railway station was crowded at seven o'clock whten the trains for north, south, and past left. The Whangamomona train. ,\v»«.about the longest it has ever beeji, while the Hawera train had several extra carriages added. The pictures and the dance in the Town Hall were the only amusements in the town, and both were very largely attended. To-day the town was settling down to ordinary conditions, the general exodus of visitors still continuing. Business people report good sales during the week. THE KING'S CINEMA THEATRE, '•EVERYWOMAN." i Practically every picture, no matter how large, has its one "big moment," when the amazed intelligence of the onlookers gives that gasp which betokens the spectacular or amazing climax of the production. In "Everywoman" the Paramount-Artcraft Masterpiece which will be presented at the King's Cinema Theatre on Monday night, December 6, thig comes with the banqueting scene in the magnicent palace of wealth. Here is a display of lavishness and extravagance on Uuch an unparalleled scale that mere words seem impotent in its description. A monster banquet board, curved iso as to almost represent a figure eight, encircles in one part a swimming pjjpl in which girls, as graceful as goddesses and as magnificent as the dawn, disport themselves, while the other part contains a dance floor upon which a bevy of beautiful girls in gorgeous gowns are seen dancing. ~*The entire scene in all its splendor is but a phase of money madness, where price is not asked and where the good that is in "Everywiman" is sifted out and lost in the turmoil. This photoplay has been adapted by George Melford from Walter Brown's famous play of the same name, and is interpreted by one of the greatest all star casts ever assembled. Photographs taken now can be finished in good time for posting before Christmas. Can you think of anything so personal, bo appropriate as a photograph for a cherished gift? Let McAllister do it and it will please both giver and recipient. Studio, Broadway, Stratford. > Hopkins' big book sale is still attracting a great deal of attention in Stratford, owing to the extraordinary reductions which have been made. The salle; is a genuine attempt to reduce stocks to make room for new Xmas goods, ana even the latest editions are being sacrificed. Call and s«e the wonderful value offering.
