, THE VISIT TO TARANAKI. ARRIVES HAWERA THIS EVENING, The first visit of the GovernorGeneral (Lord Jellicoe) and Lady Jellicoe to Taranaki will be made to-day and to-morrow. Their Excellencies will reach Hawera at 5.53 to-night and will be accorded a. civic reception at eight o'clock. Tomorrow the vice-regal party will visit Eltham in the morning, and they then procee'd to Stratford where a civic welcome will be tendered their Excellencies on 'the showgrounds. They return south to-morrow afternoon. THE HAWERA RECEPTION. A meeting held a't Hawera on Monday night discussed proposals for the reception of the Governor. The Mayor (Mr. E. Dixon), who presided, outlined a programme proposing that the member* of the Borough Council, the chairman of the County Council,. with the Citizens' Band, meet their Excellencies oil tie ar<* rival . of the train this evening* at fij.s3 o'clock, the station to be beflagged. At 8 o'clock he suggested that a civic reception be held at the Opera House, when the address of welcome would be presented, to be followed by a short musical programme lasting about an hour. The borough councillors with their wives would •then entertain their Excellencies at light supper and conversazione, representatives of all local bodies and the Defence Department to be present. * \ An amendment that a public reception be held at the park was defeated and the above proposals were endorsed. It was also decided that school children be massed in the park to-morrow morning for inspection by their JEtlcsllencies. their Excellencies will leave Hawera for Eltham at 10.30 a.ta. VISIT TO ELTHAM. The arrival at Eltham is timed for ' 10.35 a.m., the party remaining till 11.30 a.m. Business premises will be closed at ten o'clock. The Eton. W. C. P. Carncrosa and Mr. O. Hawken, M.P., will accompany tha Mayor to the station to meet the distinguished visitors, who .will then be conducted to the Town Hall, where a public reception -will be held, and an | address of welcome presented. Members of the various local bodies will be invited to tho function at the Town Hail, together with a number of prominent citizens. » AT STRATFORD. Their Excellencies will arrive all Stratford at 12.46, when they will be met by the Mayor and councillors and lunch has been fixed for 1 p.m. At 1.45 p.m. the vice-regal party Will arrive at the showgrounds. Lord Jelli« coe will inspect the guard of honor and the parade of returned soldiers. He will then be conducted to the stan4 and the National Anthem will be sung. Lord Jellicoe will be introduced to Mr. and Mrs. R. Masters, Mr. and Mrs. E. Walter, Mr. and Mrs. Cleland, and Mr. and Mrs. ft. Sangster. The Mayor will then officially welcome his Excellency, and present the civic address. After his Excellency has replied he will be officially welcomed to the show by Mr. f}. Sangster, president of the Stratford A. and P. Association, after which tho party will be conducted on a visit of inspection round the grounds. AfteiN noon tea has been fixed for 3.20 p.m., and the vice-regal party will leave the show at 4 p.m. and return to the town when, after inspecting the Roll of Honor and signing the visitors' book in the Municipal! .Chambers, they will leave Stratford. The space immediately between the grandstand and the ova! will be reserved for the guard of honor, returned soldiers and the veterans. Consequently the grnadstand will be closed immediately it is full after 1 o'clock. During the presentation of the address the public will be allowed on the oval, but they must vacate same immediately the ceremony is over in order to allow the grand parade to be held. ,
