COUNTING THE PEOPLE.
CENSUS ON APRIL 17. ' By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Minister of Internal Affairs slates the census is fixed to he taken on Sunday night, April 17th next. The staff and organisation of the Post Office will be used as last year, except for outlying country districts, and with the employment of tabulating machines it is expected the compilation can be undertaken without temporary clerical assistance. ' The household schedule follows the lines of previous schedules, but a few new questions have been added. Information is sought as to the number of orphans under sixteen years of age, and tin? number of children under sixteen dependent on eacli man. Particulars are asked us to the amount of life insurance carried in each case, and the birthplace of the father. Each person named in the schedule is asked also the places of residence of visitors in any j particular locality when the census is | taken.
