PERSONAL.
The death, at an advanced age, of Mrs. Elizabeth Mi'lne Gregory Eyre-Kenny, widow of tho late Judge Eyre-Kenny, took place on Monday night. The laie -Mrs. Eyre-Kenny has luul a long association with the New Plymouth district, her late husband having been connected officially with the district since 18G7. After his retirement from the Justice Department in 1905 they settled in New Plymouth. The Inglowood County Council yesterday decided to recommend the Government to appoint Mr. G. ,Capper as the County representative 011 the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, for which.no nominations had been received. Mr. G. Capper is a member of the present Board, on which .lie represents the Taranaki County. An old identity of Hawera passed away yesterday morning in the person of Mr. John Henderson. Deceased went 10 Hawera in the early 'eighties, and for many years was in business as a saddler. Of late yejirs his health has not been good, and lie has for some time lived in retirement. He leaves a widow and two daughters to mourn their loss.—Star.
Recent appointments in the Public Trust Department include that of Mr. F. Menneer, district accountant, Hawera, to be assistant chief accountant, Wellington. Mr. W. G. Hand-Newton, who is already in the Wellington office; has been promoted to the position of assistant solicitor, Wellington. Mr. P. 11. Winchcomb, of Auckland, becomes deputy trustee at Palmerston North, and Mr. D. L. McKay, of Christchurch, second assistant deputy trustee at Auckland.

Woods, postmaster, Pahiatua, to be postmaster, Stratford; F. W. Craig, senior supervisor, telegraph office, Dunedin, to be superintendent, telegraph office, Palmersfon North; W. L. Esson, supervisor, telegraph office, Wellington, to be senior -supervisor, telegraph office, Wellington; !-!. 11 lieynolds, accounts clerk, parcels branch, Wellington, to be supervisor of postmen, Christchurch; T. C. 11. .rones, assistant head of mail staff, Auckland, to be senior mail clerk' Napier.
