MAXY FLIGHTS YESTERDAY. CHANGE OF GROUND POSSIBLE. Good flying weather was experience! in X T ew Plymouth yesterday, and a number of trips were made from the racecourse by Messrs. Walsh Bros.' Avro aeroplane. | Considerable interest was taken in the movements of the 'plane by townspeople, and the flights over the town were watched by large numbers of people. At the course, both in the morning and the afternoon, there were many visitors to view the Ascents, and a good number made the trip. In addition to flying over the town on a number of occasions, Captain Russell proceeded out along the coast in the direction of Omata, and the clear atmospheric conditions were conducive to igood observation 011 the part of residents. The present landing ground h»a nol proved altogether suitable, and yester day afternoon Captain Russell made o, trip to Bell Block in the Avro with a view to securing another site. The racecourse was left about 3.45 p.m., and the 'plane was- piloted on to Mr. J. Connett's property. Captain Russell returned to town at about 5.15 p.m. It has been decided that if the weather is suitable the present ground on the racecourse will be retained a3 n landing site for the remainder of the stay, but if the weather conditions are not favorable to the New Plymouth base Mr. Connett's property will he utilised. In order that, townspeople may know what decision ia reached the fact that the Avro will remain on the racecourse will be signalled by the 'plane circling the Post Otlice at about ten o'clock today. If tliis operation ia not carried out it will indicate that the machine is to proceed to Bell Block, from where flights will he made as usual. Yesterday's passengers included a number of ladies, and among those who made the trip was Mr. Eliot King, an ex-airman who achieved distinction while on active service. He was accompanied by Mrs. King. Other passengers were: Mr. C. H. Weston, Mrs. K. Thompson, Miss D. Thompson, Miss V. Bishop, Miss L. Bishop, Mrs. I. R. Archibald, Messrs. D. Bishop, C.
