BOROUGH COUNCIL.
GENERAL PURPOSES COMMITTEE. The Borough Council met last night. Present: The Mayor (Mr. Jas. Clarke), Councillors F. J. Hill,'AY. P. Short, W. A. Collis and E. L. Parkin. . The engineer was authorised to supply six lengths of 4x2 timber to the Krankley Road Settte's' Association for tlie fencing of the embankment at Brois Road,
_ The Frankley Roail Settlers' Association is to be informed that the question of tar-sealing of Govett Avenue cannot be considered until a considerable number more debentures of the £37,000 loan has been disposed of. The engineer was requested to submit a plan showing the amount of land required for the widening of Mangorei Road at. the two places pointed out by the committee in the event of the adjoining land being subdivided. Application was made by the director of the Technical College for permission to construct a 2i> yards rifle range at the school. The request was refused, as was also one from the New Plymouth High School cadets for approval of a 500 yards range on the school property. The Council decided to inform an applicant that 110 funds are available for the extension of sewers in Devon Street West, but that- provision will be made therefor in the comprehensive scheme for sewer extensions for the whole borough, which -the Council propose to consider as soon as the necessary levels have been taken and other information obtained.
