HOLIDAY TO-DAY.
ATTRACTIONS FOR PLEASURE-. SEEKERS. It is Labor Day to-day, an occasion in each year when labor is seen at play, and toilers abandon the care of their tasks to the joy of sports or quiet leisure. Today will be observed as a general holiday, and those shops that do open, such as butchers, will only conduct busmen for an hour or two first thing in the morning. Taranaki people will be provided with' plenty of amusement. A popular Atttire with followers of racing is the Waverley-Waitotara meeting, and though this year's fixture is being held at Wanganui, special trains Will enable Taranaki people to attend the meeting. There will be sports at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth, and bowlers, golfers, and others will play inter-club matches. Ngaere gardens should prove a great attraction, while the beaches should be freely patronised. In the evening the Australian Diggers are at New Ply. mouth, and) all the piqture theatres have special programmes
