MESOPOTAMIA.
MAIN OPERATIONS OVER. By Telegraph.—Press Ann.—Copyright Received Oct. 21, 8.45 pm. London, Oct. 20. A Mesopotamia communique states that the main phase of the operations has ended. Railways have been restored, and blockhouses erected along a 500 miles line. Pour hundred and .sixty women and 400 children have been brought to safely since June 1. Four hundred and sixty-one were killed, 1,119 wbunded, 155 prisoners were taken, and 473 are missing.—Aus,-N.Z. Cable Asan.
BRITISH CASUALTIES. Received Oct. 21, 5.5 p.m. Delhi, Oct. 20. A mesage from Bagdad, dated October IS, states that the garrison at Kufa consisted of 513 men of the 108 th infantry, and during the siege the 108 th had nine killed, two missing, and seventeen wounded, while the relieving force yesterday had eleven casualties. Our troops, especially the cavalry, inflicted heavy casualties on the insurgents, 400 being taken prisoner, of whom 77 were detained.—Reuter Service.
