DEATH CAUSED BY FALL. By Telejtaph.—Press Association. Wellington, Oct. 19. Robert Church, the head steward at the Working Men's Club, who was admitted to hospital on Saturday night suffering from a fracture of the base of the skull as the result of a fall from a landing, died in> the institution last night. ON EYE OF MARRIAGE. By Telegraph.—Presn Assn.—CopyTljht. Palmerston North, Oct. 19. Arthur Joseph Best, a returned soldier, 35 years of age, and a Manawatu ex-representative footballer, shot himself at his brother's home at Kairanga this morning. He had just purchased a farm at Ashurst, and was to have been married to-morrow. 'During the Gallipoli campaign he was severely wounded in the head and about the body. Prior to his suicide he was in his usual health and spirits, and no motive can be attributed. The deceased was of splendid physique; he stood Oft. 2in. in height and weighed about 15 stone.
