The special committee set up by the House of Representatives to consider tjip Marriage Amendment Bill is to meet 10-dn*. for the election of a chairman niul ilie. consideration nf the order of liiisinps-. This Hill contains the new clause, inserted by tho Legislative Council, relating to the Roman Catholic ChurcVs view of marriage. A proposal will be made U:-it the committee shall admit Prem re-poi-iciv to its proceedings while evidence is being taken. It is by no means certain t)mt this Bill will get through the House tb'n session. A considerable ninonnt of evidence lirr to be heard by Urn eonimiitee, and tho end of the ae>s->-i(-in will not be far away by the time . the committee makes its report. ( A liulo opposition after that stage mijlit I"' fatal to the Rill's chances for the present session.
