Mr. Paul Curtis, chief postmaster at Napier, who retired on Thursday on superannuation, has completed 4'Ji years' service in the department. Dr. G. C. Simpson, who was a member pf Captain Scott's Antarctic expedition, 1910-13, has been appointed director of the Meteorological Office, London, in succession to Sir Napier Shaw. Since his return from the Antarctic, Dr. Simpnoil has been Imperial Meteorologist to the Government of India at Simla. Mr. Oliver Duff, 8.A., Otago, Diploma in Journalism, who for three and a half years has been Assistant Editor Of the Christehurch Sun, has been appointed Editor of the Timaru Herald, the appointment to date from early in November. —Press Association. Replies have now been received from the majority of school committees in the Wanganui Education Board's district in regard to the presentation it is proposed to make to the late chairman of the board (Mr. F. Pirani) in recognition of iiis services in the interests of education, and the list will close at an early date. The presentation will not be a public one, as originally intended. The Rev. William Wilson died on Sunday at St. Heliers Bay, Auckland, at the age of 04, after' an illness extending over several months. Mr. Wilson, who was a native of Yorkshire. England, came to New Zealand in 18X8, and was curate at St. Stephen's Church, Reefton,' in the Nelson Anglican diocese, for several years. In 1901 iie was appointed vicar of St. Luke's. Jlouiit Albert, where he remained until 190 S. In 1910 he was transferred to St. Heliers Bay.
