STRATFORD MAYORALTY.

mr. McMillan re-elected. a unanimous decision. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford Last Night. The Stratford Borough Council, at a, special meeting to'-night, unanimously' reelected Mr. J. W. McMillan as Mayor of the town, on the motion of the deputy mayor (Cr. C. Jackson), seconded by Cr. T. Lawson. In supporting the motion, councillors expressed the opinion tluit the provision in the Municipal Corporations Act, under which councillors are prohibited to trade, with the Council up to the limit of £lO, should be rescinded, and. that councillors should be.debarred from selling anything at all to the Council. It was decided to forward a remit to this effect to the next annual conference of the Municipal Association. The news of his re-election wag con'veyed to Mr. McMillan, who arrived at the meeting at a later stage. He expressed his appreciation of the Council's action in re-electing him, and stated that he believed their decision would be endorsed by a majority of the burgesses. At the same time he believed the law under which he was compelled to resign was right and just.
