TARANAKI A. AND P. SOCIETY.
/ MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE The general committee of the Taranaki A. and P. Society met on Saturday, there being a good attendance of members. Mr. W. B. Grant (president) occupied the chair. The chairman reported that it was hoped to have the groyne in the river finished at an early date. A letter from the Council of Agriculture, inviting the Society to nominate persons capable of acting as show judges, was the source of a lengthy discussion. The meeting finally decided that this matter that should be left to the various breed societies, and a remit was framed, to be forwarded to the next conference, asking that the Council delegate the nomination of judges to the breeders' organisations, and not the agricultural societies. The charge to be made to the Jersey Breeders' Association for the use of the showgrounds in connection with the holding of the sale next month was under consideration. Messrs. H. B. Lepper and C. Fairbrother waited on the meeting on behalf of the Jersey Association. After some discussion a motion was carried that the charge be one-third per cent, on. the proceeds of the sale. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. XV. Hall for a donation of £lO towards the Society's funds. A sub-committee was set up to deal with the kitchen garden competition, the personnel being Messrs. Sandford, Washer, King, Tait, Moore, and the President. The revision of the schedule was delegated to several sub-committees. On the suggestion/ of Mr. Sandford, a demonstration on W-kpeping will be made at the next show.
