THE CEMENT SHORTAGE.
"EVERYTHING. IS BEING DONE." (By Wire.—Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, Last Night. Buildings were being delayed and hundreds of bum were being thrown out o! employment owing to the shortage ol cement, -said Mr. S. G. Smith (Taranaki) in the House. The shortage oi' cement was due to the lack of coal, and, he asked, could not the Government give some additional assistance to the cement works in order to over come thii! diflieulty? The Hon. E. P. Lee replied that everything was being done that could be done in order to obtain supplies Vi coal from the cement works. One mint was supplying the cement works, and lip iioped the position would bo improved very soon, though it would be impossible to overtake the shortage for some time. The available supplies of cement woulfl continue to be distributed throughout the Dominion. *•
