NEW LOANS.
QUESTION OF COMPULSION- 1" . ONLY APPLIES TO ONE LOAN. By Telesrapli.—Pres3 Association, Wellington* Last Night. "I want to assure you that we do not intend to raise a compulsory loan for public works purposes," said the Prime Mister to an Auckland deputation today. "There will be a loan for soldiers' land settlement, and for cleaning up in connection with the war, and probably th§ Bill authorising this loan will contain a compulsory clause, but I am of opinion that there is sufficient patriotic feeling among the people possessed of capital in this country to ensure that the money required will 'ic provided without the compulsory clauses being put into operation. 1, think you will see later that I am right."
