BUTTER DEAL.
APPROVED AT AUCKLAND. EQUALITY ON HOME MARKET. By Telejraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. An important and representative meeting of Auckland provincial dairy factory representatives was held in Auckland on Friday, when the rec<mt cablegram received by the Butter Committee through the Prime Minister from the Imperial Government, was discussed. The cablegram was as follows: "With reference to your telegram, of August 80, His Majesty's Government agree to extend the offer to cover butter , delivered to the stores in New Zealand up to March 31st next, and raises no' objection to the completing of contacts made prior to August 21st with the ■United States and Canadian buyers. Subject to unforseeri contingencies a free market is contemplated, In respect of the exportable surplus after March siat." " ■. " After a lengthy review, and a 'discussion of the position, the following resolution wag finally carried: "Regarding the terms of the offer of Mr. Mussey's telegram of August 28th. to tlifl Imperial Government, this association recommends to sell as laid down by the terms of their offer dated August 25th., and empowers the Dominion Butter Committee to accept the Imperial Government's offer, subject to a free and unrestricted market in the United Kingdom being granted to New Zealand producers, a free and unrestricted market to mean equal conditions with the dairy producers of Ireland and Great Brtiain." A further resolution was also car-ied protesting against any further payment being made by the Government from the Consolidated Fund to reduce the price of butter in New Zealand, and urging that all restrictions on local sales be removed from October 1.
