FIGHTING IN SYRIA.
ARABS ATTACK FRENCH. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Alexandria, Sept. 4. Arab tribes Hauran have come to a mutual agreement to attack the French at Damascus. It is stated that French troops sent to Hauran recently were defeated at Damascus and are now entrenching. About 12,000 troopß are at Damascus. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
[Hauran is an upland district lying to the south of Damascus.]
