Following widespread criticism of the Government proposal to fill the Murray vacancy, a suggestion is now made that Parliament should be consulted before definite action is taken. Parer and Mcintosh leave for Melbourne to-day. Melbourne, Aug. 25. Mr Millen has been chosen to represent the Commonwealth at Geneva. Adelaide, Aug. 27. The Opposition censure motion was defeated by 22 votes to 13, the Nationalists all voting with the Government. Perth, Aug. 27. Mr Prendergast, Leader of the Opposition, launched a censure motion against the Government for failure to adopt the report of the Fair Profits Commission, Sydney, Aug. 25. Though no settlement has been reached in the shearing trouble, the graziers state that 58 sheds are working under the conditions.
