DISTRICT NEWS.
RAHOTU. (From Our Own Correspondent.) On Sunday evening. Mr, Alex Grey's cottage caught fire. Mfc .Grey was in bed, but wns in time to save, with help, most of Ills belongings, Including a car. Mr. and Mrs. Bell are largo losers, as a great deal of their clothing was in a room adjoining, and it was all destroyed. Mr. P. Willeox, junr., and his bride were welcomed homo on Wednesday evening by the local "tin-canhers." Mr. W. E. Wright and Mr T. P. Hughson are away on business In Wellington. Airs. W. R. Wright is staying at Wanganui. Mrs. .T. A. Colmer is visting her parents in Auckland. * There passed away at New Plymouth hospital, Mr. A. Anderson at the ripe age of 88 years. Ho had been bedridden for almost two years. Mr. Anderson was the first school master at Rahotu, opening the school with about twelve children, several coming from Pnnganliu. He was always held in great respect by the pupils and their parents. Mrs. King, his only child, predeceased him a number of years ago.
