At the wool sales a good selection of Merinos was offered. The opening rates were fully maintained. At tho tallow sales 1370 casks were offered and 65 sold at a decline of 3s. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. havo received the following cablegram from their London house under date 24th inst.: London wool sales opened to-day. As compared with Inst sales' closing rates prices are higher by about 5 per cent, to 7% per cent, for Merino; about 5 per cent, for fine crossbred, and about the same for coarse and medium crossbred. (New .Zealand Drug Co.), this afternoon, an .interim dividend of four per cent, for the half-year ended July 31 was declared. ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. Christchurch, August 25. At tho Addington market to-day there was an average yarding, and a general easing in Values. Store Sheep.—Prices showed a drop In both hoggets and wethers, the former by quite 2s 6d a head. Good young ewes sold well. Ewe lioggeta 22s Id to 31s 3d.-mixed sei hoggets 22s Id to 335, two-tooth ewes in lamb 31s fid to 395, fairly good two, four, six, and 8-tooth ewes in lamb 29s to 31s 6d, sound and failing mouth ewes in lamb 18s 3d to 30s 3d, 6 and 8-tooth wethers 32s 2d to S6s 3d, 4 and 0-tooth wethers 32s 6d to 38s, 2-tootll wethers 24s Id,to 259 lOd. Pat Sheep.—A big yarding. Prices all, round receded on last week's rates by 3s to 4s a head. Graziers secured the bulk of the lighter lines. Extra prime wethers 473 6d to 58s Cd, prime wethers 4'os to 475, medium wethers 32s 9d to 38s, light and unfinished wethers 20s Cd to 33s 3d, extra, prime ewes to 4fs 6d, prime ewes 36s to 44s 9d, medium ewes 30s to 345, light and unfinished ewes 23s 3d to 28s Gd, prime hoggets 30s to 355. Pat Cattle. —A big yarding with a good proportion of prime The sale was somewhat irregular, but values were easier than lost week. NIDES AND SKINS SALE. The Farmers' Co-op. Auctioneering Co. Ltd., Hamilton, report on the sale of hides and skins, etc., held on Tuesday, August 25, as follows : Hides.—Ox heavy, 15% d to 16d; ox medium, 14d; ox light, 12% d. Cow, best, 12d; cow seconds, 10% d; damaged ox and cow, 7d to 9d. Kips, 13d; calf, best, 20d; calf damaged at relatively lower prices. Bones—Dry, up to £9 per ton. Horsehair—Long, 2s 2d; seconds, long, Is 9d; mixed. Is 6d per lb. Cow Tails.—Large 2s per doz.; small. Is 4d per doz. Tallow.—Shipping casks, 53s per cwt.; small casks, 45s per cwt.
