INFLUENZA AFTERMATH.
SOME REMARKABLE CLAIMS By Telegraph,—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received August 20, 8.15 p.m Sydney, August 20. The, influenza claims' report discloses that some claimants took a wide view of the meaning of compensation. In some instances claims are referred to as attemps to improperly secure Government money. One mas sought a refund of wages where businesses were not closed; another claimed for repairing dilapidated premises; a third claimed rent for self* owned premises. In the case of publicans' claims it was found that number* did totter business during the epidemic witji their front door* dosed than when open. A claim on behalf of Roman Catholic schools for fees and salaries was reduced from £21,850 to £4!4 on the ground that teachers in such schools received no salaries, and no allowance is made for fees. —Aus.-N.Z.
