SUPREME COURT.

tarXnaki sessions to-day. The quarterly sessions of the Supreme Court at Now Plymouth open thies morning at 11 o'clock, -when Mr. Justice Salmond, the ■ newly-appointed Judge. will take his scat on the 'lench at New Plymouth for the first time. The calendar is a somewhat lengthy one, the criminal business including four cases— one of .alleged sheep-stealing against George Payne; the three Magon brothers will appear on charges of alleged arson, conspiring to obtain money by fraud, and abetting to commit arson; a charge«of theft has been preferred against Howard William Snow, alias Herbert .Snow; and a young; girl named Mary Oyston will appear on a charge of murder, arising out of the death of a newly-born, child at Hawera. The civil business includes three actions to be heard before r.ho Judge sml a jury of twelve, one before the Judge and a jury of four, and 13 before Judge alone. There are five divorce petitions, one of which includes a claim for damages against the co-respondent. There are two originating summonses for hearing, one under the Family Protection Act, and the other for the'interpretation of a will. There are also two appeals from the decisions of Mr. Wyverne Wilson, S.M., at Patea, and Mr. T. A. B. Bailey, S.M., at Hawera. There are also two motions under the Bankruptcy Act for hearing.
