TARANAKI PROGRESSIVE LEAGUE.
DEPUTATION TO MINISTERS. At a meeting of the executive committee of the Taranaki Progressive League, held in Stratford on Thursday, there were present: Messrs. J. W. McMillan (president), J. B. Richards, E. Dixon, E. Walter, C. J. Belcher, R. H. Piggott, Newton King and A. Corkill. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs W. Wright and E. P. Webster. All the members of the executive were appointed to form a delegation to meet the Prime Minister and the Minister for Public Works- in Wellington on August 26th. The members will, therefore, require: to leave by the mail train on August 25th. The delegation will urge on Ministers the completion of the Stratford-Okahukura railway, and of the Te Roti-Moturoa railway; the re-opening of a bridge over ifche Mokan River; and the geological survey of the Tangarakau coalfield. Pending the adoption of rules it was resolved) that the following levy be made to provide finance for the' year 1920-21: County and Borough Councils and Harbor Cards 10 guineas, Town Boards 3 guineas, Dairy Companies under 200 tons, 3 guineas, 200 to 500 tons 5 guineas, over 500 tons, 10 guineas. The Taranaki members of Parliament are to bo written to asking them to make arrangements for the reception of the delegation to Ministers and to indicate what amounts should be applied for on the Estimates for Taranaki works.—Post.
