IS IT A SIGNAL?

STRANGE DISCOVERY ON MARS. VARIED SPECULATIONS. Bjr Telesraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received August 12, 7.15 p.m. London, August 11. The Paris correspondent of the Evening News says a great white patch, apparently a snow plain, seen near the Martian tropics, is exciting French astronomers. Some speculate on the old theory of Martian signals, while others question the possibility of a snowfall during the Martian midsuromer. M. Flammarion suggests the existence of a lofty desert plateau, similar to Tibet. He believes the Martians have long abandoned attempts to communicate with the earth, owing to their receiving no response.—United Service.
