THE 'BUS SERVICE.
CONTROLLING PASSENGERS. In order to overcome the inconvenience caused to long distance ticket holders for the electric 'bus being crowded out by short distance passengers, the New Plymouth Borough Council last evening decided that the following method be adopted when there is a large number of would-be passengers gathered at the point of departure of the 'bus in Devon Street Central:— The driver will regulate the entry of passengers, ticket holders being given preference over cash passengers. Holders of tickets will be admitted in the following order: Red ticket (4d); buff (3d); blue (2d); white (Id). , Cash passengers to be admitted after ticket holders. The Mayor remarked that the Council had to do something as the 'bus was no longer capable of dealing with the traffic. In reply to a councillor, the engineer said that it, was not proposed,to inaugurate this system till the ejectric 'bus again took up the running. He also remarked that overloading was very prevalent, and passengers would have to realise that this practice must have a limit.
