LIMBLESS TRAINEES.

INCREASE IN ALLOWANCE. Br Ttleirioh.—Pras Association. Wellington, wist Night. The allowance to limbless men attending the Defence Department's artificial limb factory and workshops for repair or supply of artificial limbs will be increased from 5s ito 7s 6d per diem as from August Ist next. The Defence authorities state that it is to be -understood that this allowance is granted in lieu of accommodation in hospital, and that the Director-General of Medical Services may instruct that a limbless man is required to reside in hospital during his period of attendance, in which case the allowance will not be payable. This allowance will not be payable to limbless men when their attendance at a factory or Workshop does not necessitate their absence from home. Limbless men, while attending factories for the repair of their artificial limbs, should apply to the Commissioner of Pensions for supplementary pensions for the period they are in attendance at the factory or workshops, providing Such attendance necessitates their being away from their homes and leavfhg their employment.
