SAXTON'S BUSH.

POOR PUBLIC RESPONSE. The collectors in connection with tin; Saxton's Bush proposal have reported to the finance committee of the New Plymouth Borough Council that, after a vigorous canvass, they had only been able to collect £57, with a conditional promise of £SO additional. The committee recommended to the Council last night that no further steps be taken in regarl to the purchase of the bush. The Council decided that the Vogeltown and Frankley Road Associations bj informed that the Council propose to ask the Minister'W Lands to exchange that portion of ihe Saxton estate, north of Smith Street, containing approximately 6J acres, for 61 acres of bush.
