PROPOSED NEW CATTLE SHEDS. A meeting of tlie Stratford branch of the .Jersey bleeder.-,' Association wa.i held on .Saturday tu discuss the Jersey breeders' scheme, neld over from la.vj year, and to consider a .clieme brought forward by the A. and li. Association for the erection of u:t!ie pavilions on the Show Grounds. The president (.Mr. V. llanford) occupied the chair, and there were about twenty-five members present.
The chairman, in introducing Mr. Sangster, president of the Stratford A. &nd P. Association, paid a tribute to the whole-hearted and unselfish manner ir. which the executive tind committee worked in {Tie interests of the show. He gave a brief resume of what had beer, done by the Stratford Jersey Cattle Breeders' Association in regard to the proposed housing scheme, following the appeal made by Mr. Sangster at the recent smoke concert, and asked all members of the branch to lend their active support in an endeavor to bring the scheme to fruition.
Mr. Sangster said that the committee I realised that the Association must pro-1 vide adequate shelter for cattle, as it' ivas not fair to exhibitors to bring! valuable animals to the Show if the j society were unable to provide suitable | protection from the weather. A sug- i pestion had been brought forward j that supporters of the different breeds be : asked to aßßist the A. and P. Association ! i'i ( a building scheme met with such a; spontaneous response that meetings of I members of the local breed societies were 1 called with a view to explaining the i posit ion to them and getting their sup ; ; port. The Friesian breeders met last: Tuesday and unanimously supported th? ; scheme, starting a donation list which j promised well for the success of the ;
dertaking. Mr. Sangster explained thi\ this was the beginning of a comprehensive scheme which tin? Society had in view. They hoped this year, if sufficient money was available to build accommodation for CO to 80 head of cattle, prior claims being given to age and milk. He toped that the members would give them their support and remarked that if present indications were a sign very little difficulty should be met with in raising all the funds necessary The chairman explained that the Jersey breeders would give the suggestions every consideration.
