WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) July 1. Mr. W. Draper, who met with an accident recently on Manokoriti Hill, has almost recovered, and is expected to be able to be about again shortly. Our local poultry fancier (Mr. C. Aubrey) had a successful run at the Palmerston Show securing several prizes. The telephone subscribers having increased numerically, warrants the exchange being open until 10 p.m., commencing from July Ist. The members of the Soldiers' and Civilians' Club arc still hammering away for the necessary frnids to permit the club being established. Having acquired the Foresters' Hall for a club room, with the cash already in hand, it is necessary to •furnish same, and the chairman (Mr. Parry) appeals,to the citizens to come forward with the same spirit as that shown by Messrs. Borthwicks in donating a billiard table. Necessary alterations to the hall will probably run into £IOO or more. The committee feel that a f generous response will be j made to this appeal.
