MEN'S SOCIAL CLUB.
TARANAKI ASSOCIATION FORMED. As the result of a conference of delegates from men's social clubs, held at the Egmont Club, Stratford, on Thursday, an association, to be known as the Taranaki Affiliated Clubs Association, was formed. The following delegates were present: Mbssrs Curtis, Pratt, Peters and Robinson (South Taranaki, Hawera), A. K. Smart, J. Johnson, and E. L. Humphries (New Plymouth"Club), T. C. Stanners, Rev. Castle and G. Bennett (C.E.M.S., Eltham), J. Masters, T. Aylward, and .8. Ward (Egmont Club, Stratford). Mr. Masters was voted to the chair, and in welcoming the delegates briefly outlined the objects of the conference. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. T. Lawson (Egmont Club); vice-presidents, Messrs Curtis (Hawera), Smart (New Plymouth), and Stanners (Eltliam). The executive was selected as follows: Messrs Robinson, Humphries, Bennett, Masters. Mr. S. A. Ward was appointed secretary. The headquarters of the Association were fixed for Stratford, and a sub-committee was appointed to draw up rules. The conference "approved of proposals ' for reciprocity in admitting visiting : members of any of the affiliated clubs ' to any other club, provided the member I produces a card showing he is a financial I member of his home club.
Challenge shields will be provided for snooker, billiards, and chess, for competition between teams of four in each case. The of the chess competition were left in the hands of chess players to arrange. A hearty vote of thanks was tendered to the Egmont Club for hospitality accorded the visiting delegates. The executive met and drew up the following fixtures.—First round: Stratford v. Eltham, at Stratford; New Plymouth v. Hawcra', at New Plymouth! Stratford v. New Plymouth, at Stratford; Hawera v. Eltham, at Hawern; Stratford v. Hawera, at Hawera; Eltham v, New Plymouth, at Eltham. The first round is to be played by August 31. The second round will he a return of the above Snatches, and is to be played by October 31. The visiting teams in each case will have the right of arranging the fixture.
