DISTRICT NEWS.

TARIKI. (From Our Own Correspondent.> A grand return ball was held in the Hall on Tuesday last, the arrangements being In the hands of the bachelors of Tarlkl. There was a large attendance, the outlying districts being well represented. The younger men on the committee had devoted much taste and skill over the decorations, the result being very effective. Both the chairman (Mr. D. Kendrlck) and the secretary (Mr. D. J. E. Kettlewell) did their utmost to promote enjoyment of all present, while the supper arrangements were in the capable hands of tho young ladies who made the Leap Year Ball such a pronounced success, the catering being undertaken by Mr. Q. Young, of Inglewood. Excellent music was supplied by Pox's orchestra, extras being played by Misses Laurence, Therkleson and Hogan, while songs were contributed by Misses Dick and Maule. The duties of M.C.'a were-ably carried'out b.y Messrs. Langman, Shaw, and Johnson. TUTUTAWA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) On June 4th, there was a largo and representative gathering at the Leap Year plain and fancy dress ball. The hall looked very gay, festooned as it was with flags, fairy bells, and evergreen, the Arco lights showing up the decorations to advantage. The music was supplied by Mr. Iloddor, who was assisted by Mr. Walker, senr., extras being played by Misses Jacobsen, Needham, and Coyne. Miss Walker, assisted by Miss E. Jacobsen, made most efficient M.C.'s. Miss J. Jacobsen acted as door keeper, Mesdames Walker and Jacobsen had charge of the supper loom. Dancing was kept up till 2 a.m. Mr, Norrls, on behalf of the ladles, thnnksd all present for their attendance, which showed the efforts of the ladles had been appreciated.
