tStratford Representative: W. J. Wilson, Broadway North. Telephone 355.] DRUIDS INSTALLATION NIGHT. June 2. There was a large gathering of Druids at the Foresters' Hall last night, when the half-yearly meeting'and installation of officers took place. Among those present were several visiting brethren from other lodges. The balance-sheet for the half year showed very good progress. Tour new members were proposed. At tfre conclusion of the ordinary business, District President Bro. J. W, Jones installed the following officers for the ensuing term: A. D., Bros. Charles Liddington; V.A., Bro. E. C. Fenwiek; secretary. Bro. T- Richardson; treasurer, Bro. H. Burmester (re-elected); 1.G., Bro. Bert Rowe; 0.G., Bro. S. C. Moss; A.DB., Bros. A Russ and J. F. Ward; V.A.8., Bros. W. Ferguson and E. Mumby. The brethren then adjourned to the supper room where an excellent supper had been prepared by Bro. J. H. Sharrock and his assistants. The following toasts were proposed: "The King and the Druids," proposed by Bro. 0. Liddington; "The Grand lodge of New Zealand," proposed by Bro. E. Evans, and to by District President Bro. >T. W. Jones; "The Newly-Installed Officers," proposed by Bro. Abraham and responded to by Bros. C. Liddington and E. Fenwiek; "The Visitors," proposed by Bro. Richardson and responded to by various visitors; "The Trustees," proposed by D.P. Bro. Jones, and responded to by Bro. M. C. Aagaard; "The Ladies," proposed by Bro. Burmester, and responded to by Bros. Evans and Sheriff; and "The Press," proposed by Bro. T. Smith and responded to by the Taranaki Daily News representative. During the evening musical and elocutionary items were contributed by Bros. C. Fox, G. Dick, 0. M. Boldt, Billderbeck, and Rudkin, Bro. Fox playing the accompaniments. . A presentation of framed diplomas was made by District President Jones to Bros. W. RherifT, T. Richardson, and J. H. Sharrock, who responded, expressing the pleasure- which they had obtained from their connection with the lodge. The proceedings concluded shortly after midnight with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne." PROPOSED SPORTS ASSOCIATION. A conference of thoso interested in the formation of a Sports and Pastimes Association on similar lines to the Hawera body, was held in Stratford last night, a fair number being present. It was decided to form an Association and to aim at making it strong enough to hold a tournament later on- With this object in view the conference is to call a general meeting for Friday night at 7.30, to be held in the Fire Brigade Hall, and to invite delegates from the outlying districts to be present. It is confidently expected that the new Association will receive general support, and that all thoso interested in sports will make a special point of attending the meeting, so as to give the movement a good start. GENERAL. A branch of the Public Trust Office Will shortly be opened in Stratford, premises having been secured in Mr. J. McAlister's building, Broadway North.
