SPREADING TO OTHER TRADES. GRAVE PLOT REPORTED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—^<ipjTi b 'ht. Received May 12, 9.55 p.m. Paris, May 11. The general strike show* signs of spreading. Strikes are occurring in a -number of trades, including gas, electricity, and building. The position at Marseilles is serious. The Government discussed the situation to-day. M. Millerand .(the Premier) states it is proposed to prosecute officials of the General Workers' Confederation, round which is grouped not trades union*, •but an illegal body waiting to overturn established government.-—Aus.-N Z, Cable Assn.

The Government has ordered the prosecution of the General Confederation of Labor in view of its dissolution by virtue of the Act which permits unions merely to depend on their eco-' nomic interests.
1' earing the strike on the underground railways and tramways will fail the Confederation of Labor has called out the federated electricians and several power stations have been abandoned. Volunteers are carrying on the services, thousand builders have struck in Paris. The miners' Btrike remains partial.
