THE LIBERAL SPLIT. VIEWS OF THE PREMIER. By Telejraph.—Preqs Assn.—Copyright. Received May 12, 8.40 p.m. London, April 11. Coalition-Liberal Ministers addressed a crowded meeting at the Central Hail, Westminster. The chairman read a letter from Mr. Lloyd George, stating the proceedings at Leamington thoroughly exposed the unfitness of the National Liberal Federation, as at present managed, to represent Liberalism. The LiDentl Coalitionists had never betrayed the Liberal principles, and recent by-elections clearly showed that the machine no longer represented the Liberal rank and file. "No doubt the division in Liberalism is serious," added the Premier, "and any attempt to force the issue between the two sections will leave the Party rent, bleeding, and helpless for a generation. Unfortunately bad temper had seized the ■reins, and the .present dissension is a source of grief to me. I have done more to avert it than is yet known."
A resolution in favor of the Coalition was carried by acclamation.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
