BOROUGH PROGRESS.
THE LOAN POLLS TO-DAY. ' Important proposals involving the progress of New Plymouth Will be placed before ratepayers to-day, when the voting will take place on proposals to raise two loans- The issue) before the ratepayers ares— To raise a loan of £72,000 for hydro-electric extensions; and To raise a loan of £57,000 for streets and footpaths. The proposal have been discussed at very representative meetings of ratepayers, and while supporting both Bchemos, these meetings have urged every ratepayer to vote for both loans to-day. Much of the-advancement of New Plymouth is due to the electric power now provided, and the time has come when extensions are essential, «i« pec'ially to meet the demands of new in« dustrics and the rapidly expanding suburbs. Good streets and pavements are advantages which every ratepayer appreciates, and the carrying of to-day's proposal will enable "the good roads policy" of the Borough Council to be carried out in the town and suburbs. The polling hours to-day are from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The principal booth is YVhiteley Hall, and convenient places for voting are provided in other parts ot the town as advertised.
