STRATFORD BY-ELECTION.
THE OFFICIAL COUNT.. MR. MASTERS' MAJORITY 148. The official counting of the*ptes re« corded at the Stratford by election wai completed yesterday, and Mr. Robert Masters has been declared elected by a majority of 14S votes. The number of absentee votes was exactly 300. Fol« lowing are the official figures:— # Bine Masters InfL Ordinary' voters 3110 . 3231 23 Absentee voters 136 163 I Total ..■*.■..., 3246 3394 24 Majority for Masters 148. Upon the declaration of the poll, Mr. Masters was the recipient of further congratulations wherever he went yesterday, and satisfaction was expressed by hia friends at his increased majorityIt is interesting to mention that on the day prior to tho election Mr. Masters received a copy of the Treaty of Peace from the Prime Minister's office, addressed to "Mr. R. Masters, M.P., Stratford," and also that he was not asked to hand in his metal railway pass' after the petition. Tho number of votes actually recorded nt the by-election was 6,664, as compared with 6,225 at the general election in December, and the absentee voters increased from 133 in December to 300 at the by-election.
