POLISH THRUST

There is great interest in the Polish advance, which has reached Tarashteha, sixty-five miles from Kieff. Dramatic developments are expected. Odessa communications are threatened, ft wedge has been driven into the grain country, and a tremendous blow has been struck at the Reds' prestige, sharply repercussioned in Finland as well as in Roumania. The former is reported to be joining in the attack. The Herald's military correspondent points out that Poland's main objective is not Moscow, but the Ukraine. He c-rpects the Poles will try to advance along the Dnieper, capture Kherson, force the abandonment of Odessa, release Wrangle's force bottled up in the Crimea, and thus compel the Reds to concentrate a vast force at Koest. An attempt to stem the tide wall mean at least another. year's war.—United Service.
COMBINED DEFENCE PLANS. London, May 8. . A Moscow wireless message claims that the whole of Russia is rising against Poland. One hundred and twenty thousand troops are marching from Moscow to the Dneiper.—United Service. Berlin, May 9. The Independent Socialists are arranging a great demonstration in favor of Soviet RussiaThe Freihcit publishes a manifesto stating that signs reveal the Entente's intention again to draw a circle xound Russia. The attacking forces are being increased and probably Serbia, Roumania and Hungary will participate.
